An enquiry is sent to enquiries@probatelawyer.net.au only if you send it. Sending an enquiry does not itself create a solicitor–client relationship. A lawyer must expressly agree to act, and any engagement will ordinarily be confirmed in writing after appropriate conflict checks and any costs disclosure required by law.
What helps us answer quickly
- The full name of the person who has died, and the date of death.
- Whether there is a will, and whether you have the original.
- Who is named as executor, if you know.
- A rough list of the assets — bank accounts, property, shares, superannuation — and whether anything was held jointly.
- Whether any institution has already told you it requires a grant.
- Your relationship to the person who has died.
If you do not have all of this, send what you have. Working out what is missing is part of the job.

- Tell us whether there is a will and whether the original is available.
- Briefly identify your role and the assets or issue requiring attention.
